Message to Staff…
I
hope you had a restful weekend, and did something invigorating and gratifying!
Let’s continue in our “Wavestrong” fashion and turn an ordinary October into an
extraordinary “Rocktober!” As always, I appreciate your patience and
commitment. And remember… “It’s great to be a Westside Wave, where we
transform potential into reality!”
Our week at a glance…
NWEA testing will wrap up this week and as you can see by our
daily agenda, observation cycles have begun.
Please be sure to consult Bloomboard and your Outlook calendar to be
sure that you are making submissions and meeting preparations on time. As we have been dealing with some discipline
issues, we have a special guest speaker for Monday’s Advisory, Lt. Ryan Small,
who will discuss behavioral expectations and consequences with our boys. After taking roll, please use the following
information to escort boys to the Cowan Auditorium to meet Lt. Small:
C. Kim’s
girls to Handy – C. Kim brings his boys and Handy’s boys to auditorium
Little’s
girls to Gomez – Little brings his boys and Gomez’s boys to auditorium
Lawrence’s
girls to Pomponio – Lawrence brings her boys and Pomponio’s boys to auditorium
Walker’s

J. Kim’s

We have two weeks left in Q1, so please be sure that all grades
are up to date and in Power School.
Further, be sure that all grades are reflective of academic mastery of
the standards you taught. If there is
something that needs to be changed or adjusted, please be sure that it is taken
care of immediately; this includes Advisory.
Should you have questions or need support in this area, please feel free
to reach out to Casie, or me, as we are more than willing to help.
The new Office Hours construct begins this week. Please be sure to communicate with your
department chair for logistics. Thanks
so much to those of you who followed through with sending your assignment
templates for this week to Latierra. I
saw Andréa’s, Joe’s and Teresa’s. This
is highly important, as it increases collaboration in an effort to better serve
our students and families. If you have
not yet sent yours, I would expect to see it within the next 24 hours. Big Waves to Latierra for her desire and
unique ability to support the instruction of all of our students, especially
those with learning challenges.
Finally, Big Waves to the parents of Anissa Hassan and Nicholas
Holley for facilitating the Fashionably Fit Girls Group during SCS on Thursday’s,
led by Ms. Stephanie Haynes, CPT. It was great to see our Lady Waves getting
centered with yoga and actively listening to useful advice and instruction
during the process. I look forward to great benefits for our girls from this
group and we will launch another one as soon as it is logistically feasible. This group will continue to meet during
Quarter 2 and we will launch additional CASH groups to address the needs of our
students in areas of remediation, extension learning and social development. Thanks again to Latierra for the use of Rm.
23 for the group meetings.
